Bāla-kāṇḍa
Chapter 1: Contents of the Rāmāyaṇa Summarized
Text 1.1.53
तं निहत्य महाबाहुर्ददाह स्वर्गतश्च सः॥
taṁ nihatya mahā-bāhur dadāha svar gataś ca saḥ
tam = him; nihatya = destroyed and; mahā-bāhuh = mighty-armed Rāma; dadāha = burnt; svar = heavens; gataḥ ca = attained; saḥ = Kabandha.
Mighty-armed Rāma destroyed him and burnt him. Kabandha attained the heavens.
Rāmacandra is described as mighty-armed because His arms were capable of cutting off Kabandha’s arms. Then, when Kabandha prayed to Him to burn his body, He did so and so he attained the heavens.
