Chapter 11: Daśaratha Brings Ṛśyaśṛṅga to Ayodhyā
Text 1.11.15
वनानि सरितश्चैव व्यतिक्रम्य शनैः शनैः।
अभिचक्राम तं देशं यत्र वै मुनिपुङ्गवः॥
vanāni saritaś caiva vyatikramya śanaiḥ śanaiḥ
abhicakrāma taṁ deśaṁ yatra vai muni-puṅgavaḥ
vanāni = forests; saritaḥ = rivers; ca eva = and; vyatikramya = crossing over; śanaiḥ śanaiḥ = gradually; abhicakrāma = he reached; tam = that; deśam = place; yatra vai = where; muni-puṅgavaḥ = the best of the sages [lived].
Gradually crossing over forests and rivers, he reached that place where the best of the sages lived.
“Gradually” indicates the curiosity of the king in seeing the forests and rivers.
