Chapter 13: Daśaratha Goes to the Sacrificial Arena
Text 1.13.12
आवासा बहुभक्ष्या वै सर्वकामैरुपस्थिताः।
तथा जानपदस्यापि जनस्य बहु शोभनम्॥
āvāsā bahu-bhakṣyā vai sarva-kāmair upasthitāḥ
tathā jānapadasyāpi janasya bahu śobhanam
āvāsāḥ = [there should be] accommodations; bahu-bhakṣyāḥ vai = they should have plenty of eatables; sarva-kāmaiḥ = with enjoyable objects like garlands and sandalwood pulp; upasthitāḥ = be filled; tathā = and; jānapadasya = from the countryside; api = also; janasya = for people; bahu-śobhanam = very beautifully constructed.
[There should] also [be] very beautifully constructed accommodations for people from the countryside. It should be filled with plenty of eatables and and be filled with enjoyable objects like garlands and sandalwood pulp.
