[Arrange for] all varṇas to be honored and well respected. No insult must take place under the influence of desire and anger, even playfully.¹

¹. This is clear evidence that even though the four varṇas are stratified, all are to be honored. In other words, it is not that the higher varṇas are to be or can be respected and that the lower varṇas are to be or can be disrespected. The śūdras are to be honored, the vaiśyas more honored, the kṣatriyas even more honored and the brāhmaṇas most honored. In a Bengali article entitled Vaiṣṇava-nindā, Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura states that all those who are dhārmika should be honored. “Dhārmika” refers to one who accepts and obeys Vedic dharma.
