Chapter 13: Daśaratha Goes to the Sacrificial Arena
Text 1.13.8
यज्ञकर्म समीहन्तां भवन्तो राजशासनात्।
इष्टका बहुसाहस्री शीघ्रमानीयतामिति॥
yajña-karma samīhantāṁ bhavanto rāja-śāsanāt
iṣṭakā bahu-sāhasrī śīghram ānīyatām iti
yajña-karma = with the sacrificial work at hand; samīhantām bhavantaḥ = get busy; rāja-śāsanāt = on the order of the king; iṣṭakā = bricks; bahu-sāhasrī = several thousands of; śīghram = quickly; ānīyatām iti = bring.
On the order of the king, get busy with the sacrificial work at hand. Quickly bring several thousands of bricks.
In eight verses, the author describes the orders issued by Vasiṣṭha. The first half of this verse is directed to the sacrificial priests. The second half is directed to the brick manufacturers.
