Chapter 14: The Aśvamedha Sacrifice
Text 1.14.7
तृतीयसवनं चैव राज्ञोऽस्य सुमहात्मनः।
चक्रुस्ते शास्त्रतो दृष्ट्वा तथा ब्राह्मणपुङ्गवाः॥
tṛtīya-savanaṁ caiva rājño ’sya sumahātmanaḥ
cakrus te śāstrato dṛṣṭvā tathā brāhmaṇa-puṅgavāḥ
tṛtīya-savanam ca eva = the third soma offering; rājñaḥ = king; asya = for the; sumahā-ātmanaḥ = very greatly intelligent; cakruḥ = performed; te = the; śāstrataḥ = the scriptural injunctions; dṛṣṭvā = observing; tathā = then; brāhmaṇa-puṅgavāḥ = best of the brāhmaṇas.
Then, observing the scriptural injunctions, the best of the brāhmaṇas performed the third soma offering for the very greatly intelligent king.
