Chapter 14: The Aśvamedha Sacrifice
Text 1.14.9
गीतिभिर्मधुरैः स्निग्धैर्मन्त्राह्वानैर्यथार्हतः।
होतारो ददुरावाह्य हविर्भोगान्दिवौकसाम्॥
gītibhir madhuraiḥ snigdhair mantrāhvānair yathārhataḥ
hotāro dadur āvāhya havirbhogān divaukasām
gītibhiḥ = songs of; madhuraiḥ = sweet; snigdhaiḥ = melodious and; mantra-āhvānaiḥ = mantric invitation; yathā-arhataḥ = with appropriate; hotāraḥ = the priests; daduḥ = offered; āvāhya = calling; havir-bhogān = the oblations; diva-okasām = the residents of heaven.
With appropriate, sweet melodious and mantric songs of invitation, the priests offered the oblations, calling the residents of heaven.
