Chapter 15: The Demigods Appeal to the Lord for Protection
Text 1.15.32
ततो देवर्षिगन्धर्वाः सरुद्राः साप्सरोगणाः।
स्तुतिभिर्दिव्यरूपाभिस्तुष्टुवुर्मधुसूदनम्॥
tato deva-rṣi-gandharvāḥ sarudrāḥ sāpsaro-gaṇāḥ
stutibhir divya-rūpābhis tuṣṭuvur madhusūdanam
tataḥ = then; deva-rṣi-gandharvāḥ = devas, ṛṣis, gandharvas; sarudrāḥ = the rudras; sa apsaraḥ-gaṇāḥ = and the Apsarās; stutibhiḥ = with poetic praises; divya-rūpābhiḥ = that describe His divine, spiritual nature; tuṣṭuvuḥ = glorified; madhusūdanam = the killer of the Madhu demon.
Then, devas, ṛṣis, gandharvas, the rudras and the apsarās glorified the killer of the Madhu demon with poetic praises that describe His divine, spiritual nature.
Madhusūdanam indicates that just as the demon Madhu was killed in the past, Rāvaṇa should also be killed now.
