Chapter 18: The Advent of Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa, Bharata and Śatrughna

प्रदेयांश्च ददौ राजा सूतमागधवन्दिनाम्।
ब्राह्मणेभ्यो ददौ वित्तं गोधनानि सहस्रशः॥
pradeyāṁś ca dadau rājā sūta-māgadha-vandinām
brāhmaṇebhyo dadau vittaṁ go-dhanāni sahasraśaḥ
pradeyān ca = gifts; dadau = donated; rājā = the king; sūta-māgadha-vandinām = to the sūtas, māgadhas and vandīs; brāhmaṇebhyaḥ = to the brāhmaṇas; dadau = he gave; vittam = wealth; go-dhanāni = in the form of cows; sahasraśaḥ = by the thousands.
The king donated gifts to the sūtas, māgadhas and vandīs. He gave wealth in the form of cows by the thousands to the brāhmaṇas.
