Chapter 19: Viśvāmitra Requests Daśaratha to Give Rāma
Text 1.19.1
तच्छ्रुत्वा राजसिंहस्य वाक्यमद्भुतविस्तरम्।
हृष्टरोमा महातेजा विश्वामित्रोऽभ्यभाषत॥
tac chrutvā rāja-siṁhasya vākyam adbhuta-vistaram
hṛṣṭa-romā mahā-tejā viśvāmitro ’bhyabhāṣata
tat = the; śrutvā = hearing; rāja-siṁhasya = of the emperor; vākyam = words; adbhuta-vistaram = that described many wonders; hṛṣṭa-romā = hair stood on end out of delight; mahā-tejāḥ = the greatly powerful; viśvāmitraḥ = Viśvāmitra’s; abhyabhāṣata = and he spoke as follows.
Hearing the words of the emperor that described many wonders, the greatly powerful Viśvāmitra’s hair stood on end out of delight and he spoke as follows.
Chapter 19 describes Viśvāmitra’s request to King Daśaratha.
