Chapter 20: Daśaratha Refuses to Give Rāma
Text 1.20.8
न चासौ रक्षसां योग्यः कूटयुद्धा हि ते भृशम्॥
na cāsau rakṣasāṁ yogyaḥ kūṭa-yuddhā hi te bhṛśam
na ca = not; asau = He is; rakṣasām = for the rākṣasas [in war]; yogyaḥ = a match; kūṭa-yuddhāḥ = used to deceptive modes of warfare; hi = for; te = they are; bhṛśam = very.
He is not a match for the rākṣasas [in war], for they are used to deceptive modes of warfare.
