Chapter 21: The Anger and Appeasal of Viśvāmitra
Text 1.21.1

तच्छ्रुत्वा वचनं तस्य स्नेहपर्याकुलाक्षरम्।
समन्युः कौशिको वाक्यं प्रत्युवाच महीपतिम्॥

tac chrutvā vacanaṁ tasya sneha-paryākulākṣaram
samanyuḥ
kauśiko vākyaṁ pratyuvāca mahī-patim

tat = the; śrutvā = upon hearing; vacanam = words; tasya = of King Daśaratha; sneha-paryākula-akṣaram = that he had spluttered due his affection for his son; samanyuḥ = the angry; kauśikaḥ = son of Kuśika; vākyam = in the following words; pratyuvāca = replied; mahī-patim = to the king.

Upon hearing the words of King Daśaratha that he had spluttered due his affection for his son, the angry son of Kuśika replied to the king in the following words.

In this chapter, Vasiṣṭha assures the king who was anxious about Rāma’s departure with Viśvāmitra.
