Chapter 24: The History of Sarayū
Text 1.24.21
निर्मलो निष्करूशश्च शुचिरिन्द्रो यदाभवत्।
ददौ देशस्य सुप्रीतो वरं प्रभुरनुत्तमम्॥
nirmalo niṣkarūśaś ca śucir indro yadābhavat
dadau deśasya suprīto varaṁ prabhur anuttamam
nirmalaḥ = free from contamination; niṣkarūśaḥ ca = and hunger; śuciḥ = and purified of the sin for having killed a brāhmaṇa; indraḥ = Indra; yadā = when; abhavat = became; dadau = gave; deśasya = to this area; suprītaḥ = became very pleased and; varam = benediction; prabhuḥ = Lord; anuttamam = an excellent.
When Lord Indra became free from contamination and hunger, and purified of the sin for having killed a brāhmaṇa, he became very pleased and gave an excellent benediction to this area.
