Chapter 24: The History of Sarayū
Text 1.24.29
सेयं पन्थानमावार्य वसत्यध्यर्धयोजने।
अतएव च गन्तव्यं ताटकाया वनं यतः॥
seyaṁ panthānam āvārya vasaty adhyardha-yojane
ataeva ca gantavyaṁ tāṭakāyā vanaṁ yataḥ
sā iyam = this tāṭakā; panthānam = the path; āvārya = obstructs and; vasati = lives; adhyardha-yojane = one and a half yojanas away; ataḥ eva ca = therefore; gantavyam = we should go; tāṭakāyāḥ = Tāṭakā’s; vanam = to forest; yataḥ = on the way.
This Tāṭakā obstructs the path and lives one and a half yojanas away; therefore, we should go to Tāṭakā’s forest on the way.
