Chapter 31: Viśvāmitra, Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa Depart for Mithilā
Text 1.31.3

अभिवाद्य मुनिश्रेष्ठं ज्वलन्तमिव पावकम्।
ऊचतुर्मधुरोदारं वाक्यं मधुरभाषिणौ॥

abhivādya muni-śreṣṭhaṁ jvalantam iva pāvakam
ūcatur
madhurodāraṁ vākyaṁ madhura-bhāṣiṇau

abhivādya = having offered Their respectful obeisances unto Him; muni-śreṣṭham = Viśvāmitra, was the best of sages; jvalantam iva pāvakam = brilliant like fire; ūcatuḥ = Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa spoke; madhura-udāram = filled with sweetness and generosity; vākyam = the following words; madhura-bhāṣiṇau = for They naturally spoke sweetly.

Viśvāmitra was the best of sages brilliant like fire. Having offered Their respectful obeisances unto him, Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa spoke the following words filled with sweetness and generosity for They naturally spoke sweetly.
