Chapter 35: The History of Gaṅga
Text 1.35.25

सैषा सुरनदी रम्या शैलेन्द्रस्य सुता तदा।
सुरलोकं समारूढा विपापा जलवाहिनी॥

saiṣā sura-nadī ramyā śailendrasya sutā tadā
sura-lokaṁ
samārūḍhā vipāpā jala-vāhinī

sa eṣā = this; sura-nadī = river of the demigods; ramyā = beautiful; śaila-indrasya = of the king of the mountains; sutā = the daughter; tadā = then; sura-lokam = to the world of the demigods; samārūḍhā = ascended; vipāpā = she became a remover of sinful reactions; jala-vāhinī = while flowing as a stream of water.

This beautiful river of the demigods, the daughter of the king of mountains, then ascended to the world of the demigods. While flowing as a stream of water, she became a remover of sinful reactions.

Gaṅgā then ascended to the world of the demigods.
