Chapter 37: The History of Skanda
Text 1.37.22
निक्षिप्तमात्रे गर्भे तु तेजोभिरभिरञ्जितम्।
सर्वं पर्वतसन्नद्धं सौवर्णमभवद्वनम्॥
nikṣipta-mātre garbhe tu tejobhir abhirañjitam
sarvaṁ parvata-sannaddhaṁ sauvarṇam abhavad vanam
nikṣipta-mātre = was placed on earth; garbhe tu = as soon as the embryo; tejobhiḥ = by its effulgence; abhirañjitam = colored; sarvam = entire; parvata-sannaddham = and the nearby white mountain; sauvarṇam = golden; abhavat = became; vanam = forest.
As soon as the embryo was placed on earth by Gaṅgā, the entire forest and the nearby white mountain, colored by its effulgence, became golden.
When the embryo was born, the blood and other substances that came out of Gaṅgā were transformed into gold and so on. By the effulgence of the child, some places became golden in complexion. The forest was that of reeds.
