Chapter 38: The History of Sagara
Text 1.38.18
घृतपूर्णेषु कुम्भेषु धात्र्यस्तान् समवर्धयन्।
कालेन महता सर्वे यौवनं प्रतिपेदिरे॥
ghṛta-pūrṇeṣu kumbheṣu dhātryas tān samavardhayan
kālena mahatā sarve yauvanaṁ pratipedire
ghṛta-pūrṇeṣu kumbheṣu = in pots of ghee; dhātryaḥ = the nurses; tān = them; samavardhayan = grew up; kālena mahatā = after a long period of time; sarve = all of them; yauvanam = youth; pratipedire = attained.
The nurses grew them up in pots of ghee. Ater a long period of time, they attained youth.
These nurses were step-mothers.
