Chapter 40: Lord Kapila Punishes Sagara’s Sons
Text 1.40.10

तेषां तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा पुत्राणां राजसत्तमः।
समन्युरब्रवीद्वाक्यं सगरो रघुनन्दन॥

teṣāṁ tad vacanaṁ śrutvā putrāṇāṁ rāja-sattamaḥ
samanyur
abravīd vākyaṁ sagaro raghu-nandana

teṣām = of those; tat = they; vacanam = words; śrutvā = hearing; putrāṇām = sons; rāja-sattamaḥ = the best of kings; sa-manyuḥ = angrily; abravīt = spoke; vākyam = the following words; sagaraḥ = Sagara; raghu-nandana = O beloved descendant of Raghu.

O beloved descendant of Raghu, hearing the words of those sons, Sagara, the best of kings, angrily spoke the following words.

King Sagara was angry with his sons for not having fetched the sacrificial horse.
