Chapter 44: Bhagīratha Delivers his Uncles
Text 1.44.5
इयं हि दुहिता ज्येष्ठा तव गङ्गा भविष्यति।
त्वत्कृतेन च नाम्नाथ लोके स्थास्यति विश्रुता॥
iyaṁ hi duhitā jyeṣṭhā tava gaṅgā bhaviṣyati
tvat-kṛtena ca nāmnātha loke sthāsyati viśrutā
iyam hi = this; duhitā = daughter; jyeṣṭhā = elder; tava = your; gaṅgā = Gaṅga; bhaviṣyati = will be; tvat-kṛtena = derived from you; ca = and; nāmnā = with a name; atha loke = in the world; sthāsyati = she will be; viśrutā = famous.
This Gaṅgā will be your elder daughter and she will be famous in the world with a name derived from you.
