Chapter 46: Diti’s vow to kill Indra
Text 1.46.9
तपस्तस्यां हि कुर्वन्त्यां परिचर्याम्चकार ह।
सहस्राक्षो नरश्रेष्ठ परया गुणसम्पदा॥
tapas tasyāṁ hi kurvantyāṁ paricaryām cakāra ha
sahasrākṣo nara-śreṣṭha parayā guṇa-sampadā
tapaḥ tasyām hi kurvantyām = while she carried out her austerities; paricaryām cakāra ha = menially served her; sahasra-akṣaḥ = the thousand-eyed Indra; nara-śreṣṭha = O best of men; parayā guṇa-sampadā = enriched with excellent humility and other good qualities.
O best of men, while she carried out her austerities, the thousand-eyed Indra, enriched with excellent humility and other good qualities, menially served her.
