Chapter 47: King Sumati Approaches Viśvāmitra
Text 1.47.1
सप्तधा तु कृते गर्भे दितिः परमदुःखिता।
सहस्राक्षं दुराधर्षं वाक्यं सानुनयाब्रवीत्॥
saptadhā tu kṛte garbhe ditiḥ parama-duḥkhitā
sahasrākṣaṁ durādharṣaṁ vākyaṁ sānunayābravīt
saptadhā tu kṛte garbhe = when the child in her womb was cut into seven; ditiḥ = Diti; parama-duḥkhitā = became extremely distressed; sahasrākṣam = Indra; durādharṣam = to the unconquerable; vākyam = the following words; sā = she; anunayā = humbly; abravīt = spoke.
When the child in her womb was cut into seven, Diti became extremely distressed. She humbly spoke to the unconquerable Indra the following words.
