Chapter 48: Gautama Curses Ahalyā

पृष्ट्वा तु कुशलं तत्र परस्परसमागमे।
कथान्ते सुमतिर्वाक्यं व्याजहार महामुनिम्॥
pṛṣṭvā tu kuśalaṁ tatra paraspara-samāgame
kathānte sumatir vākyaṁ vyājahāra mahā-munim
pṛṣṭvā tu kuśalam tatra = after they asked about welfare; paraspara-samāgame = each other’s; kathā ante = after they replied to each other; sumatiḥ = Sumati; vākyam = the following words; vyājahāra = spoke; mahā-munim = to the great sage Viśvāmitra.
After they asked about each other’s welfare, after they replied to each other, Sumati spoke the following words to the great sage Viśvāmitra.
In this chapter, Śrī Vālmīki reveals the supreme purifying nature of Lord Rāma.
