viśvāmitram anu prāptaṁ śrutvā sa nṛ-patis tadā
śatānandaṁ
puraskṛtya purohitam aninditam
pratyujjagāma
sahasā vinayena samanvitaḥ

viśvāmitram anuprāptam śrutvā = upon hearing that Viśvāmitra had arrived; saḥ nṛ-patiḥ tadā = the king; śatānandam = Śatānanda; puraskṛtya = keeping before him; purohitam = his priest; aninditam = faultless; pratyujjagāma = went out; sahasā = immediately; vinayena samanvitaḥ = with humility.

Upon hearing that Viśvāmitra had arrived, the king went out immediately with humility, keeping his faultless priest Śatānanda before him.

[As per scriptural regulations,] King Janaka did not cross the boundaries of the temporary place constructed for him to prepare himself for initiation into his sacrifice.
