Chapter 51: King Viśvāmitra Arrives at Vasiṣṭha’s Āśrama
Text 1.51.28
वसिष्ठस्याश्रमपदं ब्रह्मलोकमिवापरम्।
ददर्श जयतां श्रेष्ठो विश्वामित्रो महाबलः॥
vasiṣṭhasyāśrama-padaṁ brahma-lokam ivāparam
dadarśa jayatāṁ śreṣṭho viśvāmitro mahābalaḥ
vasiṣṭhasya = Vasiṣṭha’s; aśrama-padam = āśrama; brahma-lokam iva aparam = that was like a second Brahmaloka; dadarśa = saw; jayatāṁ śreṣṭhaḥ = the best of the conquerors; viśvāmitraḥ = Viśvāmitra; mahābalaḥ = the greatly powerful.
The greatly powerful Viśvāmitra, the best of the conquerors, saw Vasiṣṭha’s āśrama that was like a second Brahmaloka.
Even though Vasiṣṭha’s āśrama was like this, he still honored Viśvāmitra. In order to point this out, the glory of Vasiṣṭha’s āśrama has been described.
