Chapter 55: King Viśvāmitra Obtains Divine Weapons

विवर्धमानो वीर्येण समुद्र इव पर्वणि।
हतमेव तदा मेने वसिष्ठमृषिसत्तमम्॥
vivardhamāno vīryeṇa samudra iva parvaṇi
hatam eva tadā mene vasiṣṭham ṛṣi-sattamam
vivardhamānaḥ = greatly increased; vīryeṇa = in heroic prowess; samudraḥ iva parvaṇi = like the ocean during Pūrṇimā; hatam eva = was already slain; tadā mene = he considered; vasiṣṭham = Vasiṣṭha; ṛṣi-sattamam = that the best of sages.
Greatly increased in heroic prowess like the ocean during Pūrṇimā, he considered that the best of sages Vasiṣṭha was already slain.
