तदस्त्रमुद्यतं दृष्ट्वा देवाः साग्निपुरोगमाः।
देवर्षयश्च सम्भ्रान्ता गन्धर्वाः समहोरगाः॥
त्रैलोक्यमासीत्सन्त्रस्तं ब्रह्मास्त्रे समुदीरिते॥
tad astram udyataṁ dṛṣṭvā devāḥ sāgni-purogamāḥ
deva-rṣayaś ca sambhrāntā gandharvāḥ samahoragāḥ
trailokyam āsīt santrastaṁ brahmāstre samudīrite
tat astram udyatam dṛṣṭvā = upon seeing that the Brahmāstra was taken up [by Viśvāmitra]; devāḥ = the devas; sa-agni-purogamāḥ = headed by Agni; deva-ṛṣayaḥ ca = the devarṣis; sambhrāntāḥ = became perplexed; gandharvāḥ = gandharvas; sa-mahā uragāḥ = and the great serpents; trailokyam = the three worlds; āsīt = became; santrastam = terrified; brahmāstre samudīrite = when it was used.
Upon seeing that the Brahmāstra was taken up [by Viśvāmitra], the devas headed by Agni, the devarṣis, gandharvas and the great serpents became perplexed. When it was used, the three worlds became terrified.
