Chapter 63: Viśvāmitra Falls Prey to Lust
Text 1.63.27
तस्मिन्सन्तप्यमाने तु विश्वामित्रे महामुनौ।
सम्भ्रमः सुमहानासीत्सुराणां वासवस्य च॥
tasmin santapyamāne tu viśvāmitre mahā-munau
sambhramaḥ sumahān āsīt surāṇāṁ vāsavasya ca
tasmin santapyamāne tu viśvāmitre mahā-munau = while the great sage Viśvāmitra was fully engaged in austerities; sambhramaḥ sumahān āsīt = became very greatly agitated; surāṇām = the demigods; vāsavasya ca = and Indra.
While the great sage Viśvāmitra was fully engaged in austerities, the demigods and Indra became very greatly agitated.
Indra and the demigods were unnecessarily frightened with the thought, “Does he hanker for our posts?”
