Chapter 63: Viśvāmitra Falls Prey to Lust

तां ददर्श महातेजा मेनकां कुशिकात्मजः।
रूपेणाप्रतिमां तत्र विद्युतं जलदे यथा॥
tāṁ dadarśa mahā-tejā menakāṁ kuśikātmajaḥ
rūpeṇāpratimāṁ tatra vidyutaṁ jalade yathā
tām = she; dadarśa = saw bathing; mahā-tejāḥ = the greatly powerful; menakām = Menakā; kuśika-ātmajaḥ = son of Kuśika; rūpeṇa = in beauty; apratimām = was unparalleled; tatra = in the waters of Puṣkara Lake; vidyutam = a lightning; jalade = among the clouds; yathā = like.
The greatly powerful son of Kuśika saw Menakā bathing in the waters of Puṣkara Lake. She was unparalleled in beauty, like a lightning among the clouds.
