विश्वामित्रोऽपि धर्मात्मा लब्ध्वा ब्राह्मण्यमुत्तमम्।
पूज्यामास ब्रह्मर्षिं वसिष्ठं जपतां वरम्।
कृतकामो महीं सर्वां चचार तपसि स्थितः॥
viśvāmitro ‘pi dharmātmā labdhvā brāhmaṇyam uttamam
pūjyām āsa brahma-rṣiṁ vasiṣṭhaṁ japatāṁ varam
kṛta-kāmo mahīṁ sarvāṁ cacāra tapasi sthitaḥ
viśvāmitraḥ = Viśvāmitra; api = also; dharma-ātmā = whose mind was devoted to dharma; labdhvā = having attained; brāhmaṇyam = the status of a brāhmaṇa; uttamam = excellent; pūjyām āsa = worshipped; brahma-rṣim = brahmarṣi; vasiṣṭham = Vasiṣṭha; japatām varam = the best of mantra reciters; kṛta-kāmaḥ = his desire fulfilled; mahīm sarvām = all over the earth; cacāra = he wandered; tapasi sthitaḥ = being situated in austerity.
Having attained the excellent status of a brāhmaṇa, Viśvāmitra, whose mind was devoted to dharma, also worshipped brahmarṣi Vasiṣṭha, the best of mantra reciters. His desire fulfilled, he wandered all over the earth, being situated in austerity.
