Chapter 65: Viśvāmitra Becomes a Brahmarṣi
Text 1.65.8
तस्यानुच्छ्वसमानस्य मूर्ध्नि धूमो व्यजायत।
त्रैलोक्यं येन सम्भ्रान्तमादीपितमिवाभवत्॥
tasyānucchvasamānasya mūrdhni dhūmo vyajāyata
trailokyaṁ yena sambhrāntam ādīpitam ivābhavat
tasya anucchvasamānasya = while he stopped exhaling; mūrdhni = of his head; dhūmaḥ = a smoke; vyajāyata = came out; trailokyam = the three worlds; yena = because of that; sambhrāntam = became perplexed; ādīpitam = ignited; iva = as if; abhavat = it had been.
While he stopped exhaling, a smoke came out of his head. Because of that, the three worlds became perplexed as if it had been ignited.
