Chapter 67: Lord Rāma Breaks Lord Śiva’s bow
Text 1.67.14
इदं धनुर्वरं ब्रह्मन्संस्पृशामीह पाणिना।
यत्नवांश्च भविष्यामि तोलने पूरणेऽपि वा॥
idaṁ dhanur-varaṁ brahman saṁspṛśāmīha pāṇinā
yatnavāṁś ca bhaviṣyāmi tolane pūraṇe ‘pi vā
idam = this; dhanuḥ-varam = excellent bow; brahman = O brāhmaṇa; saṁspṛśāmi = can I feel; iha = here; pāṇinā = with My hand; yatnavān ca bhaviṣyāmi = can I try; tolane = to weigh; pūraṇe api vā = or string it.
O brāhmaṇa, can I feel this excellent bow here with My hand? Can I try to weigh or string it?
