Chapter 67: Lord Rāma Breaks Lord Śiva’s bow
Text 1.67.16
लीलया स धनुर्मध्ये जग्राह वचनान्मुनेः।
पश्यतां नृसहस्राणां बहूनां रघुनन्दनः॥
līlayā sa dhanur madhye jagrāha vacanān muneḥ
paśyatāṁ nṛ-sahasrāṇāṁ bahūnāṁ raghu-nandanaḥ
līlayā = effortlessly; saḥ = the; dhanuḥ = bow; madhye = in the middle; jagrāha = grasped; vacanāt muneḥ = on authority of the sage’s words; paśyatām = while watched on; nṛ-sahasrāṇām = thousands of men; bahūnām = many; raghu-nandanaḥ = the beloved descendant of Raghu.
On the authority of the sage’s words, the beloved descendant of Raghu effortlessly grasped the bow in the middle while many thousands of men watched on.
