Chapter 69: Daśaratha Reaches Mithilā
Text 1.69.9

ततो राजानमासाद्य वृद्धं दशरथं नृपम्।
जनको मुदितो राजा हर्षं च परमं ययौ।
उवाच च नरश्रेष्ठो नरश्रेष्ठं मुदान्वितः॥

tato rājānam āsādya vṛddhaṁ daśarathaṁ nṛpam
janako
mudito rājā harṣaṁ ca paramaṁ yayau
uvāca
ca nara-śreṣṭho nara-śreṣṭhaṁ mudānvitaḥ

tataḥ = then; rājānam = ruler [of Ayodhyā]; āsādya = having met; vṛddham = the elderly; daśaratham nṛpam = King Daśaratha; janakaḥ = Janaka; muditaḥ = happy; rājā = king; harṣam = delighted; ca = and; paramam = greatly; yayau = became; uvāca ca = spoke the following words; nara-śreṣṭhaḥ = King Janaka; nara-śreṣṭham = to King Daśaratha; mudā-anvitaḥ = cheerfully.

Having met King Daśaratha, the elderly ruler [of Ayodhyā], King Janaka became happy and greatly delighted. King Janaka then cheerfully spoke the following words to King Daśaratha.

Janaka was happy to meet Daśaratha because the marriage was to take place soon.
