Chapter 7: King Daśaratha’s Ministers
Text 1.7.15
कश्चिन्न दुष्टस्तत्रासीत्परदाररतो नरः।
प्रशान्तं सर्वमेवासीद्राष्ट्रं पुरवरं च तत्॥
kaścin na duṣṭas tatrāsīt para-dāra-rato naraḥ
praśāntaṁ sarvam evāsīd rāṣṭraṁ pura-varaṁ ca tat
kaścit = even a single; na = not; duṣṭaḥ = crooked; tatra = in the city or country; asīt = there was; para-dāra-rataḥ = or devoted to another’s wife; naraḥ = man; praśāntam eva = peaceful; sarvam = entire; asīt = was; rāṣṭram = kingdom; pura-varam = excellent city; ca = and; tat = the.
There was not even a single man in the city or country crooked or devoted to another’s wife. [On the other hand], the entire kingdom and excellent city was peaceful.
All residents of the city and country were free from immorality and adharma.
