Chapter 76: Lord Rāma Strings Lord Viṣṇu’s bow
Text 1.76.1
श्रुत्वा तज्जामदग्न्यस्य वाक्यं दाशरथिस्तदा।
गौरवाद्यन्त्रितकथः पितू राममथाब्रवीत्॥
śrutvā taj jāmadagnyasya vākyaṁ dāśarathis tadā
gauravād yantrita-kathaḥ pitū rāmam athābravīt
śrutvā = hearing; tat = the; jāmadagnyasya = of Jamadagni’s son; vākyam = words; dāśarathiḥ tadā = Daśaratha’s son; gauravāt = out of respect; yantrita-kathaḥ = controlled His loud speech; pituḥ = for His father’s presence; rāmam = to Paraśurāma; atha = and; abravīt = spoke as follows.
Hearing the words of Jamadagni’s son, Daśaratha’s son, out of respect for His father’s presence, controlled His loud speech and spoke as follows to Paraśurāma.
This chapter describes how Lord Śrī Rāmacandra extinguished the pride of the son of Jamadagni.
