Chapter 76: Lord Rāma Strings Lord Viṣṇu’s bow
Text 1.76.23
तथा ब्रुवति रामे तु जामदग्न्ये प्रतापवान्।
रामो दाशरथिः श्रीमांश्चिक्षेप शरमुत्तमम्॥
tathā bruvati rāme tu jāmadagnye pratāpavān
rāmo dāśarathiḥ śrīmāṁś cikṣepa śaram uttamam
tathā = thus; bruvati = when spoke; rāme tu = Rāma; jāmadagnye = the son of Jamadagni; pratāpavān = and valiant; rāmaḥ = Rāma; dāśarathiḥ = son of Daśaratha; śrīmān = the splendorous; cikṣepa = shot; śaram uttamam = that excellent arrow.
When Rāma, the son of Jamadagni, spoke thus, Rāma, the splendorous and valiant son of Daśaratha, shot that excellent arrow.
