Chapter 77: The Newly-wed Couples Reach Ayodhyā
Text 1.77.20-21

कस्यचित्त्वथ कालस्य राजा दशरथः सुतम्।
अभिवादयितुं प्राप्तं श्यामं कमललोचनम्।
अक्लिष्टकारिणं शूरं परसैन्यविमर्दनम्॥

विनयं देहयोगेन सम्प्राप्तमिव संस्थितम्।
भरतं कैकयीपुत्रमब्रवीद्रघुनन्दनः॥

kasyacit tv atha kālasya rājā daśarathaḥ sutam
abhivādayituṁ
prāptaṁ śyāmaṁ kamala-locanam
akliṣṭakāriṇaṁ
śūraṁ para-sainya-vimardanam

vinayaṁ deha-yogena samprāptam iva saṁsthitam
bharataṁ
kaikayī-putram abravīd raghu-nandanaḥ

kasyacit tu atha kālasya = after some time; rājā daśarathaḥ = King Daśaratha; sutam = to his son; abhivādayitum = to offer His respectful obeisances [unto His father]; prāptam = who had arrived; śyāmam = Bharata was dark; kamala-locanam = lotus-eyed; akliṣṭakāriṇam = and He had never put anyone in difficulty; śūram = He was heroic; para-sainya-vimardanam = capable of destroying the armies of His opponents; vinayam deha-yogena samprāptam eva saṁsthitam = and appeared as if He were humility in person; bharatam = Bharata; kaikayī-putram = born to Kaikeyī; abravīt = spoke as follows; raghu-nandanaḥ = the beloved descendant of Raghu.

After some time, King Daśaratha, the beloved descendant of Raghu, spoke as follows to his son born to Kaikeyī, Bharata, who had arrived to offer His respectful obeisances [unto His father]. Bharata was dark, lotus-eyed and He had never put anyone in difficulty. He was heroic, capable of destroying the armies of His opponents, and appeared as if He were humility in person.
