Chapter 77: The Newly-wed Couples Reach Ayodhyā
Text 1.77.28
पितुराज्ञां पुरस्कृत्य पौरकार्याणि सर्वशः।
चकार रामो धर्मात्मा प्रियाणि च हितानि च॥
pitur ājñāṁ puraskṛtya paura-kāryāṇi sarvaśaḥ
cakāra rāmo dharmātmā priyāṇi ca hitāni ca
pituḥ = of His father; ājñām = the order; puraskṛtya = following; paura-kāryāṇi sarvaśaḥ = all of His duties to the citizens; cakāra = executed; rāmaḥ = Rāma; dharmātmā = who was so devoted to dharma; priyāṇi ca = those that were pleasing; hitāni ca = and those that were beneficial.
Following the order of His father, Rāma, who was so devoted to dharma executed all of His duties—those that were pleasing and those that were beneficial—to the citizens.
