Chapter 8: Daśaratha Decides to Perform the Aśvamedha Sacrifice
Text 1.8.24

तासां तेनातिकान्तेन वचनेन सुवर्चसाम्।
मुखपद्मान्यशोभन्त पद्मानीव हिमात्यये॥

tāsāṁ tenātikāntena vacanena suvarcasām
mukha-padmāny aśobhanta padmānīva himātyaye

tāsām = of those; tena = upon hearing those; atikāntena = very sweet; vacanena = words; suvarcasām = lustrous women; mukha-padmāni = the beautiful lotus faces; aśobhanta = shone; padmāni = lotuses; iva = like; himātyaye = at the end of winter.

Upon hearing those very sweet words, the beautiful lotus faces of those lustrous women shone like lotuses at the end of winter.
