Chapter 9: Conversation Between Sumantra and Daśaratha

स वने नित्यसंवृद्धो मुनिर्वनचरः सदा।
नान्यं जानाति विप्रेन्द्रो नित्यं पित्रनुवर्तनात्॥
sa vane nitya-saṁvṛddho munir vana-caraḥ sadā
nānyaṁ jānāti viprendro nityaṁ pitr-anuvartanāt
saḥ = that; vane = in the forest; nitya-saṁvṛddhaḥ = always growing up; muniḥ = sage; vana-caraḥ = be a forest-dweller; sadā = would always; na = will not; anyam = anyone else—villages or villagers; jānāti = know; vipra-indraḥ = that best of the twiceborn; nityam = always; pitṛ-anuvartanāt = being with and following his father.
Always growing up in the forest, that sage would always be a forest-dweller. That best of the twiceborn will not know anyone else—villages or villagers—because of always being with and following his father.
