स लब्धमानैर्विनयान्वितैर्नृपैः पुरालयैर्जानपदैश्च मानवैः।
उपोपविष्टैर्नृपतिर्वृतो बभौ सहस्रचक्षुर्भगवानिवामरैः॥
sa labdha-mānair vinayānvitair nṛpaiḥ
purālayair jānapadaiś ca mānavaiḥ
upopaviṣṭair nṛpatir vṛto babhau
sahasra-cakṣur bhagavān ivāmaraiḥ
saḥ = the; labdha-mānaiḥ = who had received their due honors; vinaya-anvitaiḥ = humble; nṛpaiḥ = by kings; pura-ālayaiḥ = who resided in the city; jānapadaiḥ = country; ca = and; mānavaiḥ = and men; upa-upaviṣṭaiḥ = [all of whom] were sitting close to him; nṛpatiḥ = King [of Kosala]; vṛtaḥ = surrounded; babhau = shone; sahasra-cakṣuḥ = thousand-eyed Indra; bhagavān = the glorious; iva = like; amaraiḥ = [surrounded] by the immortals.
Surrounded by humble kings who had received their due honors and men who resided in the city and country, [all of whom] were sitting close to him, the King [of Kosala] shone like the glorious thousand-eyed Indra [surrounded] by the immortals.
