गतेष्वथ नृपो भूयः पौरेषु सह मन्त्रिभिः।
मन्त्रयित्वा ततश्चक्रे निश्चयज्ञः स निश्चयम्॥
श्व एव पुण्यो भविता श्वोऽभिषेच्यस्तु मे सुतः।
रामो राजीवताम्राक्षो यौवराज्य इति प्रभुः॥

mantrayitvā tataś cakre niścayajñaḥ sa niścayam
śva eva puṇyo bhavitā śvo ’bhiṣecyas tu me sutaḥ

gateṣu atha = departed; nṛpaḥ = the king; bhūyaḥ = again; paureṣu = when the residents of the city; saha mantribhiḥ = his ministers; mantrayitvā = consulted and; tataḥ cakre niścayajñaḥ saḥ niścayam = having arrived at a decision, concluded; śvaḥ eva = tomorrow; puṇyaḥ = an auspicious day; bhavitā = is; śvaḥ = tomorrow; abhiṣecyaḥ tu = let be coronated; me = my; sutaḥ = son; rāmaḥ = Rāma; rājīva-tāmra-akṣaḥ = whose eyes are reddish like that of the lotus; yauvarājye iti = as the crown prince; prabhuḥ = capable.
When the residents of the city departed, the king again consulted his ministers and, having arrived at a decision, concluded as follows: “Tomorrow is an auspicious day. Let my capable son Rāma whose eyes are reddish like that of the lotus be coronated tomorrow as the crown prince.”
Though Daśaratha had contemplated about Rāma’s coronation, and even though He had summoned Rāma and told Him about the coronation, He again consulted with his ministers about when to coronate Rāma. Then he called Rāma and informed Him about the specific details about the coronation. This is described in this chapter.
