Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 4: Daśaratha’s Anxiety About Coronating Rāma
Text 2.4.24

सुहृदश्चाप्रमत्तास्त्वां रक्षन्त्वद्य समन्ततः।
भवन्ति बहुविघ्नानि कार्याण्येवंविधानि हि॥

suhṛdaś cāpramattās tvāṁ rakṣantv adya samantataḥ
bhavanti bahu-vighnāni kāryāṇy evaṁ-vidhāni hi

suhṛdaḥ ca = Your well-wishers; apramattāḥ = attentively; tvām = You; rakṣantu = should protect; adya = now; samantataḥ = from all sides; bhavanti = are; bahu-vighnāni = fraught with many obstacles; kāryāṇi = auspicious duties; evam-vidhāni = such as these; hi = because.

Your well-wishers should attentively protect You now from all sides, because auspicious duties such as these are fraught with many obstacles.

[Daśaratha felt that] auspicious duties such as the great welfare activities such as coronation would contain many obstacles.
