Chapter 8: The Conversation Between Kaikeyī and Mantharā
Text 2.8.31
गोप्ता हि रामं सौमित्रिर्लक्ष्मणं चापि राघवः।
अश्विनोरिव सौभ्रात्रं तयोर्लोकेषु विश्रुतम्॥
goptā hi rāmaṁ saumitrir lakṣmaṇaṁ cāpi rāghavaḥ
aśvinor iva saubhrātraṁ tayor lokeṣu viśrutam
goptā = will protect; hi = certainly; rāmam = Rāma; saumitriḥ = Sumitrā’s son; lakṣmaṇam = [will protect] Lakṣmaṇa; ca api = and; rāghavaḥ = Rāghava; aśvinoḥ = that of the Aśvinī-kumāras; iva = to be like; saubhrātram = brotherly affection; tayoḥ = Their; lokeṣu = among the people; viśrutam = is well known.
Sumitrā’s son will certainly protect Rāma and Rāghava [will protect] Lakṣmaṇa. Their brotherly affection is well known among the people to be like that of the Aśvinī-kumāras.
