Chapter 18: Kaikeyī Informs Rāma About the two Boons
Text 2.18.31
तमार्जवसमायुक्तमनार्या सत्यवादिनम्।
उवाच रामं कैकेयी वचनं भृशदारुणम्॥
tam ārjava-samāyuktam anāryā satya-vādinam
uvāca rāmaṁ kaikeyī vacanaṁ bhṛśa-dāruṇam
tam = the [following]; ārjava-samāyuktam = who was endowed with straightforwardness; anāryā = the uncivilized; satya-vādinam = and who [always] spoke the truth; uvāca = [then] spoke; rāmam = to Rāma; kaikeyī = Kaikeyī; vacanam = words; bhṛśa-dāruṇam = extremely terrible.
[Then] the uncivilized Kaikeyī spoke the [following] extremely terrible words to Rāma who was endowed with straightforwardness and who [always] spoke the truth.
