Chapter 20: Kausalyā’s Lamentation
Text 2.20.4
न क्रुध्यत्यभिशप्तोऽपि क्रोधनीयानि वर्जयन्।
क्रुद्धान्प्रसादयन्सर्वान्स इतोऽद्य प्रवत्स्यति॥
na krudhyaty abhiśapto ’pi krodhanīyāni varjayan
kruddhān prasādayan sarvān sa ito ’dya pravatsyati
na = not; krudhyati = Rāma does become angry; abhiśaptaḥ = when spoken to harshly; api = eve; krodhanīyāni = acts that incite their anger; varjayan = avoiding; kruddhān = those who are angry; prasādayan = He pleasingly pacifies; sarvān = all; saḥ = He; itaḥ = from this place; adya = today; pravatsyati = will depart.
Even when spoken to harshly, Rāma does not become angry. Avoiding acts that incite their anger, He pleasingly pacifies all those who are angry. He will depart from this place today.
