Chapter 24: Rāma Instructs Kausalyā
Text 2.24.1
तं समीक्ष्य त्ववहितं पितुर्निर्देशपालने।
कौसल्या बाष्पसंरुद्धा वचो धर्मिष्ठमब्रवीत्॥
taṁ samīkṣya tv avahitaṁ pitur nirdeśa-pālane
kausalyā bāṣpa-saṁruddhā vaco dharmiṣṭham abravīt
tam = the; samīkṣya tu = understood then; avahitam = to be attentively fixed; pituḥ = His father’s; nirdeśa-pālane = on carrying out command; kausalyā = Kausalyā; bāṣpa-saṁruddhā = and stopped crying; vacaḥ = the following words; dharmiṣṭham = most dhārmika Rāma; abravīt = she spoke to Him.
Kausalyā understood the most dhārmika Rāma to be attentively fixed on carrying out His father’s command and stopped crying. She then spoke to Him the following words.
[In this chapter], Kausalyā accepts Rāma’s dhārmika conclusion.
