Chapter 24: Rāma Instructs Kausalyā
Text 2.24.31
एवमुक्ता तु रामेण बाष्पपर्याकुलेक्षणा।
कौसल्या पुत्रशोकार्ता रामं वचनमब्रवीत्॥
evam uktā tu rāmeṇa bāṣpa-paryākulekṣaṇā
kausalyā putra-śokārtā rāmaṁ vacanam abravīt
evam = like this; uktā tu = when spoke to her; rāmeṇa = Rāma; bāṣpa-paryākula-īkṣaṇā = her eyes brimming with tears; kausalyā = Kausalyā; putra-śoka-ārtā = became distressed over her son; rāmam = to Rāma; vacanam = the following words; abravīt = she spoke.
When Rāma spoke to her like this, Kausalyā became distressed over her son. Her eyes brimming with tears, she spoke the following words to Rāma.
