Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 31: Rāma Allows Lakṣmaṇa to Follow Him to the Forest
Text 2.31.4

मया समेतोऽरण्यानि बहूनि विचरिष्यसि।
पक्षिभिर्मृगयूथैश्च सङ्घुष्टानि समन्ततः॥

mayā sameto ’raṇyāni bahūni vicariṣyasi
pakṣibhir mṛga-yūthaiś ca saṅghuṣṭāni samantataḥ

mayā = Me; sametaḥ = with; araṇyāni = forests; bahūni = the many; vicariṣyasi = You can wander; pakṣibhiḥ = of birds; mṛga-yūthaiḥ = herds of deer; ca = and; saṅghuṣṭāni = that are filled with the sounds; samantataḥ = all over.

With Me, You can wander all over the many forests that are filled with the sounds of birds and herds of deer.

Mayā sametaḥ indicates that Lakṣmaṇa will be with Rāma while holding a bow that He recognizes as Rāma’s property. Bahūni indicates that Lakṣmaṇa is praying to Rāma to award Him the facility to menially serve Him in every manner at all places, at all times and under all circumstances.
